Detail saving JPEG underexposed

Then I took the highest quality JPEG and did exactly the same edit. The result was shockingly good. However, very dark areas weren't recovered as good as in RAW. Also, the white balance was not as precise. When I tried the same with low quality JPEGs, the data loss cumulated with each extra edit.
